Overview-of-Metal-Additive-Manufacturing.jpg

Metal 3D Printing is also known as Metal Additive Manufacturing. Metal 3D printing offers digital flexibility and enables the production of lighter and stronger parts. Metal 3D printing is helping us bring design and innovation to the forefront.

Innovae3D specializes in manufacturing parts using Metal Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), i.e. Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) technology.

Innovae3D has a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with comprises of a DMLS 3D printer: EOS M280. And the entire facility is AS 9100 and ISO 9001:2015 certified! In this article, you will get an overview of DMLS technology.

What is Additive Manufacturing?

Basically, additive manufacturing technology uses 3D model data (computer-aided-design (CAD)) to deposit the material layer-by-layer (in a precise manner). As name suggests, part is created by adding the material, as opposed to the subtractive manufacturing.

In subtractive manufacturing, we remove material through conventional manufacturing processes like milling, turning etc. to achieve the desired final shape. Additive manufacturing is also called by the names: 3D Printing, Rapid Prototyping, Direct digital manufacturing, freeform fabrications, etc.

Additive manufacturing has various processes. Here, we will explain you the DMLS process/technology.

What is DMLS Technology?

DMLS is an additive manufacturing technology. This technology is also known as Direct Metal Laser Melting (DMLM).

This technology spreads the metal powder layer by layer and uses powerful laser beam to melt the thin layer of metal powder.
